Watermarks

Well, it looks like I totally underestimated the wordage on this one.  It’s gonna go 4 to 5k I think.  Got it over 3500 words now.  I learned something weird about my writing process tonight.  Sometimes I get stuck in the story’s second act and I’m not sure where it’s going.  So I track back through the story as I brainstorm and there’s always something I’ve placed in the story earlier that becomes a pivotal part of the ending.  As I was searching for the rest of this story, I read back through the first act and there it was.  My writer’s brain knew all along it was there, but my critical brain is there saying, “nice job, dork, you painted yourself into a corner, didn’t you?”  I always ignore my critical brain at this point because I know what I’m looking for when I see it pop up.  Then my writer brain tells my critical brain to shove it and the story goes on.  : )  So, it’s looking like I won’t finish tonight.  And I’m cool with that.
